A visit to the Canton Fair

Joachim. 51 years old, very experienced, very tall (194 cm) and with a slight fever was sweating.

Sweating, sweating, sweating,

One of the most difficult things in the world, even more difficult than making great products is to stop sweating.

Stop sweating when you have a fever, and stop sweating when you have to get through the temperature guns at Customs.Ahh, somehow, Joachim got through – A Norwegian giant, a man between boys, he was ready to pick up his luggage. Now the real work was beginning.

The Canton Fair is the largest trade fair in China, drawing over 150,000 visitors every time it's in session. With over 22,000 exhibitors spread across 55,000 booths and 1.1 millions square meters, suffice it to say that it's massive. It's been held in Guanghzhou, China twice a year since 1957. Suddenly a Norwegian giant becomes very small. Very small and even with new Nike shoes, big blisters are appearing. Luckily, The Canton fair is one of the only places in the world that sneakers and a tie go together. At every booth he hears the same words “Yes, we can make”. Read more later on how a big, little man became big again and more adventures on finding the best factories in the east of Asia.
